helping a friend to cope

Reply Quote
My close friend has decided to have an abortion.
I've never dealt with something like this before.
I want to do everything I can to help her through this.

I'm directing this at users who have gone through the same thing or helped a friend through it.
How did you deal with the grief?

M Lawton

My best friend had abortion. I have try to help her to choose adoption but she choose abortion. I was little sad because I am against abortion because of the baby and what if the baby is president or cure disease or anything. She was depression for a while. I told her it will be alright you will be ready to have a baby someday. I went with her to abortion place and it was scary there was people outside trying to call you a murder and everything. After she got abortion and she was crying because she was awake and so painful and and she said she will never do it. 2 years later she got pregnant and next month she gonna have a baby boy and she did keep her promise. But try to help her and just make sure she choose not anyone like boyfriends or parents. Also if she became sad and talk to her about it and take her place where she was happy.

I think you need to give her the best advice you can give her, make sure she weighs the pro's and con's and be honest with her and find out if she can handle the repercussions on her decision. Many women go through depression after an abortion and she needs to realize all of the things that can happen.

After you do the honesty thing with her, then the best thing to do ... is be a friend. If she has come to you with this dilema she obviously trusts you and values your opinion! I don't think this is a time to tell her what you would do, but to advice her to the best decision for her. It may be hard ... but she needs someone who in unbaised and who has her best interest in mind!

I've personally had friends who've used abortions like birth control ... i stopped listening to their issues and questions. I have never personally had one and I'm against it for myself ... but I believe to each their own!
