pregnancy tests

Hi.  I took three pregnancy tests and neither one showed any results whatsoever.  I was wondering if there could be anything wrong with me, or am I just one of those women who always seem to get a dud.....?  Please let me know what you think.

Hi there..your not alone. When I began to think I was pregnant, the first thing my boyfriend and I did was go and get 2 pregnancy tests..I took one while still AT the store (we were that anxious), and another later that day..both were blank after I did them. so I got 2 more from CVS a couple of days later which was a Sunday, and one line came up bright pink and the other one was there..just not as much as the other one, but it was still visible to me. The next day, I went to a walk-in at our local Family Medical Center..and sure enough, the results were there loud and clear :).  Don't give up though, I've also heard it's best to take the test when you first wake up in the morning..GOOD LUCK!!

Your best bet is to take the test with morning urine, and usually after 10 days after your missed period.  I did two 5 days after my missed period (EPT) and both were negative.  After 5 more days, still no period, so I did one First Response and there it was, I was pregnant.  To confirm it was right, I took the 2nd test the next morning and it too was positive.

Sometimes if you don't wait long enough too, you'll get a misreading.

Try to perform the test first thing in the morning for optimal results, though this is not mandatory.

  • Pregnancy tests are usually stored in the refrigerator. So, make sure you bring the test kit to room temperature before you use it.
  • Collect urine in a clean, dry glass or plastic container. Ensure that there is no detergent residue in the container.
  • Take out the pregcolor card (see image below) and place it on a flat surface.
  • Draw out a little urine with a dropper (provided with the kit) and put just two drops in the circular test well that is usually marked 'S'. Do not spill urine on the reading strip.
  • Wait for three to five minutes (depending on manufacturer's instructions) and then read the test results. Trying to read the results before the stipulated time or waiting too long, can both lead to inaccurate readings.
